Dear teachers and my dear fellow schoolmates:
Good morning! I am Jason from Form 5 Class B. Today, the topic of my speech is: "Lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets. Protecting the environment is everyone’s responsibility"
In recent years, we have witnessed the devastating consequences of environmental degradation—from rampant deforestation and habitat loss to the alarming decline in biodiversity. Climate change, pollution, deforestation, and habitat destruction threaten the delicate balance of ecosystems around the world. These are challenges. But amidst the challenges, there is hope.
Hope springs from the collective efforts of individuals, communities, and nations coming together to address the pressing issues of our environment. Hope stems from the realization that each of us has the power to make a difference, to be stewards of the earth, and champion of sustainability.
Our actions today will determine the fate of our planet tomorrow, and we must act decisively to protect our natural heritage.
To protect our lucid waters and lush mountains, we must act in multiple ways. First, we must advocate for policies that promote conservation and sustainable development.Second, we must invest in clean energy technologies and embrace renewable resources. After that, we must learn the importance of environmental stewardship and have a deep reverence for nature.
Last but not least, we must recognize that our fates are intertwined with the fate of the planet and that we have a responsibility to safeguard it for the sake of all living beings.
This means adopting sustainable practices in our daily lives, advocating for policies that prioritize environmental protection, and actively participating in activities related to it within our communities. Start from the side, start from the little things. To save every drop of water and electricity. Protect every flower, grass, tree, and every inch of land.
In summer, raise the temperature of the air conditioner by one degree. In winter, lower the heating temperature by one degree. When you see that the tap is not turned off, turn it off. When you see that the lights and classroom computers are not turned off, turn them off. Indeed, these are extremely small actions, and seven billion such small actions will create a better earth.
For the boundless blue sky we have seen, for the prosperous stars we have looked up to, starting from now and starting from small things, we will usher in a better earth and a tomorrow full of hope.
Thank you all. My speech is over.
